Stormwater refers to rainwater and melted snow that flows over roads, parking lots, lawn and other sites in urban areas. Stormwater management practices help to minimize the impact of polluted runoff flowing into lakes and streams, and reduce the strain that stormwater places on municipal infrastructure.
Municipalities across Ontario have launched initiatives to improve stormwater quality. The traditional focus of storm water management has been flood protection, system operation and maintenance. Storm water management has been evolving for some years and to be considered innovative, it must now also address quantity and quality issues, total loadings, runoff volume, and the impacts of runoff on watershed ecology. Ken Brown Excavating has worked with municipalities on a number of these types of projects and has become highly skilled in the installation of these systems.
